Maxus eDeliver 3 Review
The Chinese company Maxus, or as they used to be the "Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC)" talk boldly about revolutionising the transport industry, and it's easy to see why. They talk about bringing the future into the now, and stress the importance of being a "green" vehicle manufacturer.
It's all commendable, and looking at the Maxus eDeliver 3 electric, the Maxus eDeliver 9 electric, and the Maxus Deliver 9 Diesel can show us why this Chinese brand is making excellent vans.
To begin, the Maxus eDeliver 3 electric is a light, commercial 4-door van which runs on a battery, and designed and produced by the Chinese automaker Maxus.
Although it was designed in 2018, making it a relatively modern vehicle on the market, it was launched even later on the Chinese car market in January 2019 as a mid-size electric distribution van.
It's capable of a top speed of 90 kph (56 mph) and offers all the mod-cons you'd expect from a forward-thinking company like Maxus.
As standard, you'll get air conditioning, electric windows, USB & Bluetooth connectivity, storage, cup holders, adjustable electric door mirrors, a multifunction steering wheel and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for export models.
Additionally, you'll enjoy a reverse camera with rear parking sensors, cruise control, six cargo bay floor-mounted strapping rings and a cargo bay solid partition with a glass panel option to separate the cabin.
When did it come to our shores?
Although launched in China in 2019, we had to wait a little bit longer over here in the UK. The Maxus eDeliver 3 electric arrived on sale in 2020 and has sold well ever since, spreading in popularity to an extent where the marketing team at Maxus state that they're "still just getting started!"
There are two battery packs offered on the eDeliver 3 for UK drivers; a 35kWh and a 52.5kWh, returning a range of 98 miles and 150 miles respectively.
It's useful to know that a rapid charge to around 90% of the battery takes 45 minutes, while a Type 2 full battery charge would take seven hours.
Maxus E Deliver 9 electric
The Maxus eDeliver 9 electric is a two to 18-seater light commercial van produced by Maxus. It was launched during the Shanghai Auto Show of 2019.
There's also a diesel version called the Maxus Deliver 9 Diesel which comes equipped with a 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine producing 150 horsepower.
As you'd expect from its name, the Maxus eDeliver 9 electric is bigger than the Maxus eDeliver 3 electric, as the battery size options come in 51.5 kWh, 72 kWh or 88.5 kWh, but whichever size the van is, the whole Maxus brand continues to represent outstanding performance, high efficiency and superb reliability across its range of vehicles.
